Just being with you makes me happy
"See you tomorrow, Kagami, Tsukasa," Matsuri said with a smile as she picked up her handbag and opened the front door. "Hurry up, Inori, so we won't be late."
The purple-haired girl slipped on her shoes and stepped to the door after her sister.
"Bye," Matsuri yelled from outside.
"All right, have fun, you two. Don't stay up all night, okay? And don't eat too much, Kagami," Inori added.
"Thanks a lot," Kagami snapped with a grimace at the closing door. She never would stop hearing about that.
She turned around and gave a smile at Tsukasa. Her twin smiled back.
"Finally, sheesh," Kagami sighed. What a hassle seeing everyone off. Still, she was really happy that their parents had decided to go off on a weekend trip to a lovely inn in the mountains. They deserved some romantic time just by the two of them. And Matsuri and Inori had been invited to a slumber party with their friends. Not that those two really needed any time off, but it was fun to have the house just to herself and Tsukasa. It wasn't often that there was no one else around. Thoughts about getting to eat as much or as little as she wanted, without anyone commenting on it, came to mind, and she blushed a bit, then shrugged it off.
"Hey, you want to finish up homework, then get some snacks and watch the movie?", Kagami asked with a smile.
"Yes!", Tsukasa exclaimed. They were almost done with their assignments already, since Kagami had helped her twin with her work. Just a bit more to go and they could spend the whole evening having fun.
They went to Kagami's room where they had left their textbooks and notes, and sat down at the table, Kagami working on her essay and occasionally giving Tsukasa help with her math problems. Every now and then she sat back to glance at her sister, smiling. Tsukasa was so cute when she concentrated on something. And she was really quite bright if she just focused a bit. The main thing holding her back was her low self-esteem, and her relying too much on Kagami and others to help her when she ran into problems. But who could turn her down when she asked you so sweetly?
Kagami got her essay done and read it through, then got up and went to look over her sister's shoulder to see how much she had left.
"Hey," she said and pointed at a line, "You know better than this..."
"Oh!", Tsukasa squeaked and looked at the calculation that Kagami was showing, erased off the result and took a pencil, stopping to think. Kagami watched her for a while, then knelt behind her and leaned to pick the pencil from her hand.
"See," she said, pointing out a number, "You didn't add this. So the correct result would be...?"
"Thirty-five," Tsukasa said with a smile, and Kagami wrote it down.
"Good," the long-haired girl said. "You can do all of these, just remember to check your answers." She turned to look at Tsukasa and got a loving smile in return. She gave the pen back and sat down to give the girl some room to work on the last few problems.
"Done," the short-haired girl said after a moment and stretched her arms, then turned to look at her sister. "I checked them, too."
"Well done," Kagami said. There was nothing like being with Tsukasa to make her forget her own worries. "I think we're done with the work, how about we get the stuff ready for the movie?"
Tsukasa nodded happily. "Thank you for helping me again," she said with a blush.
"No problem," Kagami said. "It's more fun than doing it alone."
They went to the kitchen to pile up the treats, carried them into the living room and spread everything comfortably on the floor. Tsukasa took the movie they had rented and put it in the vcr while Kagami brought their drinks. With just the two of them, choosing the movie had been easy, and they had decided on a romantic comedy for tonight, something to relax and laugh on. They put the movie on and gossiped through the intro while munching on a bag of chips.
Between exasperated comments about the thick-headedness of the male lead, falling over in laughter with Tsukasa, and indulging herself with snacks, Kagami eyed the short-haired girl sideways with a smile. Being alone with her was something she had longed for. Watching her smile and laugh made Kagami happy.
After a pivotal plot turn and twin sighs of relief and released suspense, Tsukasa lay down on the floor with a pack of pocky sticks, swinging her legs happily as she followed the movie. Kagami watched her fondly, noticing that the girl's blouse had dragged up to reveal her slim waist. The long-haired girl sighed ruefully, turning her eyes to the movie but soon returning to the other girl. It was somehow so intriguing to see how similar Tsukasa's body was to hers, and how it yet was different in places.
The short-haired girl reached to pull a little at her panties through her skirt, to make herself more comfortable, and Kagami hurriedly turned to look at the movie. She shouldn't keep staring so much. And Tsukasa must have no idea how much impact she had on her sister with the smallest things. Kagami shook herself a little, then got down on the floor next to her twin, took a chocolate stick from the pack and set to watching the movie, enjoying the warm soft feel of Tsukasa's thighs next to hers. She relaxed and let the whimsical plot and funny characters, and the candy, get her undivided attention once more.
Half an hour later Kagami got back up again with a wince. Lying down was fun, but you couldn't stay there for long before your neck went stiff. Tsukasa got up too, rubbing her elbows and smiling that adorable smile. Kagami gazed at her lips, then jerked her head back to the tv when she realized what she was doing. The film's romantic mood must be working onto her.
For a while she watched the movie, lost in thought and hardly following the events, then picked up her glass and took a sip, glancing at Tsukasa.
"This strawberry soda is really good," she said, then offered the glass to her sister. "Do you want to taste it?"
The other girl looked at her, then took the glass with a smile and took a drink.
"Good! I like it too," she said and handed it back.
"There's still some in the fridge, so we can get you a glass later," Kagami said and got a happy nod in return. Tsukasa turned back to the movie, and Kagami lifted the glass to her mouth, touching the same spot where Tsukasa's lips had been, feeling the slight moisture. The thought made her warm and fluffy inside. She sighed.
Her life was always like this. Always unsure what she wanted, watching everyone around her live carefree lives, pursuing their own dreams. And when she had dreams, she spent all her time thinking and considering and hesitating, and hating herself for it, and she never got what she really wanted the most.
She didn't have any doubts about her bisexuality any more. She had a permanent crush on Konata, and even Miyuki made her feel fuzzy at times. But Tsukasa, who was always there for her and made her so happy...
Tsukasa had her tear her hair in frustration at times, or more like every day, but she never made her feel awkward or sad, or inadequate. And that smile of hers that could fix everything... She was the one.
Kagami didn't fight the feeling. She had tried for a long time and she knew it didn't work. It was just one more thing she could sadly dream of.
"Hey, watch it," she said and picked up a plate of onigiri from where Tsukasa had almost moved her foot. The girl turned around, then blushed and gave that sweet smile again.
"Try to be a little more careful, okay?", Kagami said with a frown, adding a bit more punch than needed, to try to keep from colouring herself. She liked Tsukasa blushing at her from close range all too much.
Often she wondered what her twin felt for her when she went into a blushing fit, or fell into her arms for comforting, or cuddled with her so openly. Kagami knew her so well in every other aspect, could talk with her about pretty much everything, but she couldn't tell whether the girl felt some romantic attraction to her or not. She could only dream.
Most of their plates were empty and scattered about by the time the end credits started. The girls stretched and got slowly up, Kagami glancing at her sister.
"Did you like it, Tsukasa?", she asked with a gentle smile. It was late already, and tomorrow their sisters would be back home. Her short, pleasant time all alone with Tsukasa was over so soon.
"It was lovely," the short-haired girl said, sitting on the floor and looking at her. "What about you, oneechan?"
"I loved it," Kagami said. "Let's do this again soon, okay?"
"Yes," Tsukasa said happily.
They collected their plates and took them back into the kitchen. Kagami looked at the clock, which was still well short of ten, then watched her yawning twin for a while and smiled despite herself. The girl's sleepiness only made her more adorable.
"You feel like going to bed already?", she asked. Tsukasa nodded, and they went to brush their teeth. Watching the girl from the mirror, Kagami reached to brush soft lavender hair from her sister's cheek and got a lovely tender look in return. She would have liked to ask Tsukasa to her room to read or play games before going to bed, but the girl looked like it was best to let her sleep. And what made Tsukasa feel good was what Kagami wanted to do. She would still have some time with her, all alone just by the two of them, in the morning before Inori and Matsuri came back. And... she would be with her every single day just like always. But that just didn't make her feel any better right now. She put her toothbrush back and washed her face to get away the stinging in her eyes.
After they were finished, they stopped at the door to Tsukasa's room. The short-haired girl turned to look at Kagami and gave her a sweet smile. "Oneechan, I had lots of fun."
"Me too," Kagami said, looking into her eyes. This kind of moments made her stomach flutter. They were so close. She suddenly grabbed Tsukasa into a tender hug, squeezing her tight. Even just dreaming made her so happy. The other girl stood there in surprise, then wrapped her arms around her sister too.
"I love you," Kagami said with a melancholy smile. Tsukasa hugged her back, pressing her head affectionately on her sister's shoulder. After a while they loosened their hug and looked in each other's eyes in shared happiness.
"Good night, Tsukasa," Kagami said gently, then let go to step away. She did love her.
"Good night, Kagami-oneechan," the short-haired girl said with an adoring look. Kagami turned to walk to her own room, then stopped and turned back, looking into Tsukasa's big pretty eyes. Her name sounded so good when Tsukasa said it. This might be their only evening alone. Kagami's heart started to race, but she forced herself to be calm, to step to the other girl once more. Her eyes were so endlessly beautiful.
"Do you want a good night's kiss?", she said softly. "Just this one time..."
Tsukasa's eyes widened in surprise, but Kagami made herself stand there and look at the girl.
"Oneechan...", Tsukasa said uncertainly. Kagami looked her in the eyes, then brushed her own hair off her cheek and moved closer. For once in her life, she wanted to do and regret instead of not doing and regretting.
She leaned to Tsukasa and gave her a small, gentle good night's kiss that lasted all night.
